Coffee home
The real coffee home is Ethiopia. The plant with red fruits of which you can make the bitter invigorating drink for the first time was discovered exactly in the Ethiopian province Kahve. In the course of time this drink has won subsequently the whole world.
Spreading
From Ethiopia coffee has extended to the neighboring Yemen and then got to other trading ways. Camel’s caravans delivered coffee together with spices from East Africa to the countries of Middle East and Europe.
Triumphal way
The first mentions about coffee can be found in annals of 575 year. In the east coffee has been elevated to a cult, the quantity of coffee houses increased as quickly, as quantity of people who knew how to prepare this drink. In 1511 in Mecca coffee was damned because the clergy has been disturbed about ceremony’s non-observance: during day and evening Mohammedan prayers many Moslems were sitting in coffee houses, ignoring the traditions which have been fixed for centuries.
The first coffee house has been opened in 1646 in Europe, in Venice. Triumphal procession of coffee has extended in France, Germany, Poland and Holland. In Russia coffee fashion was entered by Peter I, who have specified to submit it at meetings (in 1696).
Coffee began widely used after war of 1812 when heroes came back from subdued European countries. French officers have conceived a liking for coffee and have brought this habit to home. To drink coffee was a good form, as well as the French language learning.
In France coffee has got accustomed not at once. French people have started to drink it only in 1669, when Louis XIV who preferred cocoa to all drinks was ruled. Now France is one of the most coffee consuming countries in Europe! Annual coffee consumption per capita in France amount 5 kg! The first place for coffee consumption is occupied by the Scandinavian countries – Finland and Sweden. Obviously, it is connected with a frigid climate of these countries and a short light day. So, it is not necessary to dismiss historical spreading of coffee from Holland not only to Germany and France, but also to the Scandinavian countries.
